INTRODUCTION

Quality is an inherent and distinguished characteristic through which an institution can guarantee the maintenance and enhancement of its education. The establishment of quality Enhancement cell is one of the education commission taken by the higher education commission (HEC) of Pakistan to improve the quality of higher education in Pakistan. The QEC department has been established in the private and public sector universities and higher education institutions (HEIS) of Pakistan and they are working under the guidance of (HEC).

Jinnah College of Nursing, Abbottabad (JCNA) was was started as Jinnah School of nursing for 3 years nursing diploma programme in 2016 and upgraded to the level of nursing college in 2019. Jinnah College of Nursing Abbottabad is recognized by Pakistan Nursing, Council and registered by Health Foundation, Govt of KPK and Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) KPK. 

The Quality Enhancement cell was established in Jinnah College of Nursing, Abbottabad (JCNA) in 2019.

The department of QEC at Jinnah College of Nursing, Abbottabad (JCNA) has conducted Faculty performance evaluation on the self-assessment Report [SAR] successfully i.e. Generic Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (GBSN) and Post-RN.

Women institute of learning and Rehabilitation sciences was established with the purpose of promoting professional nursing education in the country, especially for the female population. 

The Quality Enhancement cell was established in Jinnah College of Nursing, Abbottabad (JCNA) in 2021.

Mission

QEC is committed to assure and enhance the quality of higher education at Jinnah College of Nursing, Abbottabad (JCNA) where students can learn skills and other attributes in a best possible way with respect to good teaching strategies, sound infrastructure, outcome based education, positive tools and a learning environment for females.

Vision

To ensure high standards of education set by HEC in the field of health sciences with respect to professional and quality assurance techniques.

Objectives

  • Maintain and continuously enhance academic standards.
  • Enhance students learning.
  • Verify that the existing programs meet their objectives and institutional goals.
  • Demonstrate the professional and social skills to adopt changing health care environment.
  • Provide feedback for quality assurance of academic programs.
  • Distribution and evaluation plan design development.

FUNCTIONS of QEC:

  • The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is to be headed by the Director QEC and will be reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor. he is to be the correspondent with the outside bodies.
  • QEC is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
  • QEC is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.
  • QEC is responsible for the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.
  • QEC is responsible for defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the reviews to be carried out. It should also help the employees to know as to what they could expect from candidates.
  • QEC is responsible to apply Pakistan Qualification Framework for curriculum development. The Faculty is also appointed according to the revised HEC Eligibility Criteria.
  • QEC is responsible to develop program specifications. These are standard set of information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes a student will have developed on successfully completing a specific program.
  • QEC is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.
  • QEC is responsible to ensure that the university’s quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education.
  • QEC is responsible to develop procedures for the following:
  • Approval of new program
  • Annual monitoring and evaluation including program monitoring, faculty monitoring and student perceptions
  • Departmental review
  • Student feedback
  • Employer feedback
  • Subject review
  • Institutional assessment
  • Program specifications
  • Qualification framework
  • To ensure smooth functioning of QEC as per the predefined quality parameters set by HEC, the chairpersons of the respective departments.
